Polyester was the first PU foam invented. Polyester foams are stronger and more resistant from being pulled apart. This material is also more resistant to hydrocarbons and alcohols. This can be important when combining different materials and adhesives. Polyester foam has a consistent small uniform cell structure that has an aesthetically appeasing appearance that is perfect for presentation purposes. Its color does not fade as quickly and it is more durable than Polyether.

Flame Retardant

The density is simply how much a 12" x 12" x 12" piece of foam weighs.

PU comes in a variety of densities ranging from 1 pound to 3 pounds per cubic foot.

The most popular density is 1 pound material.

The higher the density, the more expensive the foam will be.

IFD (Indentation Forced Deflection)

IFD is a measurement only used for PU foam.

IFD tells you how many pounds of pressure it takes to compress the foam. The higher the IFD, the firmer the material will be. The lower the IFD, the softer the foam will be. We usually ask if you want your foam to be soft, medium, or firm to help us determine what IFD you are needing.
